RAM modules identified individually, but not jointly
I have an Inspiron 15 5576 that came with a single 8GB SODIMM. I bought a 2x8GB kit to upgrade it.
I have installed the new DIMMs individually to verify that they each work, and they do. However, when I install both, the BIOS shows that the DIMM in slot B is 64MB. This happens regardless of which DIMM is in which slot; it even happens if I use a new DIMM with the old one.
Placing the any of the DIMMs, old or new, in slot B, with slot A empty, the computer works fine and the 8GB stick is properly recognized by the BIOS.
So, no evidence that any stick is defective. Both slots work fine individually, but having an 8GB stick in each of the slots results in the BIOS showing slot A as 8192MB and slot B as 64MB.
How do I resolve this?

I should have mentioned that the bootup diagnostics said that the RAM passed all tests. Of course, it was reflecting what the BIOS was improperly reporting about the DIMMs being 8192MB and 64MB.

Hi, did you find a solution to this problem? I am trying to do the exact same thing.

Both SODIMM show up in cpu z but the full amount of RAM is not available. Windows Task Manager shows 2 slots used and running at 2400mhz,but not seeing 16gb there
