I suspect the problem is not caused by the RAM but rather the other work you did on the CPU. Check all the fan connections and make sure that nothing in that area has been damaged. It is possible that the additional RAM is not compatible but since the system will not boot with the original RAM in the original slots it would appear to be another problem. Are you seeing any flashing diagnostic lights or hearing any beeps?
When you tr;y to start the system watch the diagnostic led if this led is flashing in a certain pattern that indicates your issue you can find more information about this in the system diagnostic ligts in this manual
