I would not recommend 12 GB total in the 5521. Dell systems are touchy about RAM, the specs do not list 12 GB as compatible, and for dual channel operation it is best to have two RAM modules of the same speed and size. So either add another 4 GB module of the same size and speed or better yet, buy a kit of either 2 x 4 GB for a total of 8 GB or a kit of 2 x 8 GB for a total of 16 GB. And the specs are for DDR3 but DDR3L will work as they are dual voltage.
