Thank you for this information, filbert. My earphone used to work before I reinstalled a different version of Windows 10 though. Do you know why this could have happened?

There is no benefit to installing drivers for hardware that you don't have. That system does not have Realtek audio hardware. It has IDT audio.

There is no IDT Audio driver for Windows 10 for your system. However, there is an IDT Audio driver for Windows 8.1 and earlier. Try installing that.

If the install is not successful, you may need to install the driver in Compatibility Mode. I wrote a process to install audio drivers in Compatibility Mode that works well.

I can't know for certain without seeing it. It may be that Windows 10 provides basic sound driver that works for your system. Perhaps your earphone is no longer set to be the output device.

Right-click sound icon in systray area | Open Sound settings | make sure you have the correct output device selected in the drop-down list.

If you want us to help you, please describe what you did. Don't make me watch a 3-minute video to find out.

Look in Device Manager. Does the earphone appear there? If not, you may need to install the IDT driver as I described. Or, if there is an error symbol in Device Manager, that could be for a currently non-working earphone.

Thanks again filbert. It actually doesn't show any more devices other than the built-in laptop speakers, although my earphone is plugged in.
