Resolution limited up to only 1080P for external monitor, and I solved it.

Hi.

I just got Dell Vostro 3500 from my office last week.

I have Dell Monitor P2418D, and it supports up to 2560*1440 resolution.

I tried to connect laptop and monitor with HDMI cable, but I could only select 1080P(1920*1080).

After searching lots of forum, I noticed that some of Dell laptop(especially business/lower model) has limitation on resolution setting, which Dell intended to.
(I really appreciate to the answers in Dell forum)

Dell technician in South Korea (I live in Korea) confirmed it, too.

1080p in 2560*1440 monitor looks so blurry, so I spend many hours, everyday, to get higher resolution,
and I solved it.

1. You need to find usb 3.0 to hdmi adapter, which supports more than 1080P (2560*1440, etc...)
I purchased one of these product: https://www.displaylink.com/products/usb-adapters
but not that exactly same one, because displaylink has a lot of associated product. it depends on where you live.

2. Once you get usb 3.0 to hdmi adapter, install driver (depending on manufacturer of the product)

3. Plug it on usb 3.0 port, and connect HDMI cable on it.

4. You get more than 1080P in display setting menu.

Thanks.
