SM BUS Controller 3443
Hello,
After several laptops, I got a second hand laptop DELL, mint conditions Inspiron 14 3443 I5-5200 8GB RAM, I promptly registered the owmership unit D3WCC32. I cheched the unit diagnostic, and everything seemed good, I got a new HDD, and fully reinstalled windows 8.1, and upgraded to PRO. I got (downloaded) all required DELL drivers for 3443, and I decidede to stop waste my time with the weird WIN 8.1; therefore fully upgrade to Win 10 20H2 PRO (Lic).
I tried the automated DELL updating services, but I got forter errors telling that the warranty has expired (dahh!!)
In short I installed one by all the reqired, but I continue to have the "SM BUS Controller (!)" checking the driver it says that the driver is not installed. I got again all available Chipset drivers and tried again, but the error stays.
I checked for a solution and it seems that there was a similar problem time ago, so that it has been solved by getting the missing driver from another DELL laptop driver set.
As well everithing looks fine as fully new and functional, but "SM BUS Controller" I contacted DELL customer care.
In short I got to know right away DELL cusomer care, at first I have been told to find get it myself or to go at DELL shop, salon, then the second answer to prove that I buyed the new hard disk from DELL, otherwise I cannot get any support.
Now... Before to upgrade to Win. 10 I checked and the unit is supported, I got the PRO, but the SM BUS Controller driver stays missing. This driver seems to be a basic one as SM Bus Controller or System Management Controller is a Chipset on the Motherboard. Its main purpose is to monitor the board's voltage and temperature. This should be quite important for the processors work, speeds cooling etc. Thus to avoid system failures, even working.
The full system check showed that everything works fine and all sensors are working, then the new OS seems only missing the SM Bus Controller that coupled with the OS should be in charge of several tasks that at the end will affect the laptop performances, and overheat/break.
It is clear that the drive is a basic that should be available with the others, it may be that the latest Chipset drivers somehow are missing that part, but... If DELL states that this 3443 I5 is fully supported for Win 10 what one should think? (To note that even fully reinstalling Win 8.1 the same SM Bus Controller driver is missing... DELL policy to hide a basic mother board attached driver to let you break your unit if not travel to DELL shop and pay a fortune for something should be already your?
Is here anyone that can let me know which driver should I get for to get my SM Bus Controller fixed? I would like to avoid as much as possible meaningless test, but I am pretty sure that it may be available from another machine Chipset or exact one, for this motherboard family.
Thank you in advance for any support.

Clean installation of Windows 10.
Connect with Ethernet cable to your router and run Check for updates app.
You may want to upgrade your BIOS to the newest version.

Hello ieee488,
to be more clear I bought two new HDD to avoid problems.
The installation procedure is a new installation, I do not think "Clean installation of Windows 10" is a good idea as it takes hours.
The mentioned problem SM BUS Controller driver missing comes out with Win 8.1 PRO and Win 10 PRO. I do believe that the driver is not mainly a Win matter, but DELL or INTEL. I suppose that the specific driver, can be standalone, or attached into another driver that for some reason does not want to install, or "may be somehow kept apart by DELL available drivers" (DELL should or not clearly answer and provide it especially if available standalone, as part of the original hardware?).
About Drivers and BIOS update I posted the system INFO and everything has been updated to the last available stuffs, it needed hours to get, check, install, and finding out that some drivers are not apropriate for windows 10 though listed as the DELL automated system detetection provides, (this is another story that requires a dedicated topic, but I am not very musch into social discussion regarding DELL policies and accuracy of basic services).
I am simply asking someone if can provide the correct driver that may be also standalone, and for other models even motherboard, but same I5 as well may supposed to detect each core temperature separetedly and so on.
Peease fully read the full post to avoid my reply courtesy even not really apropriate.
Anyway thank you for the try.

having problems, too! The latest version of 'Support Assist' is for 10+ and will not install on 8.1 - therefore all the diagnostic tools will not work either as Support Assist seems to be a required prerequisite to access the diagnostics
T cannot find drivers for either the SM bus controller, Network controller (both show code 28) and all 4 available drivers
for 8.1 on the Intel website show incompatable with your PC
I'm also having problems with Service Registration, I THINK this might be the reason why I cannot open the store
Frankly, I'm Beginning to wonder if, as Microsoft no longer supports 8.1, if Dell has deleted all the relevant drivers, already?
