Startup Settings Missing From USB Recovery Drive
Hi @ Dell Community
Just acquired a Dell Inspiron 15 model 3576. Win 10 Home 64 bit Version 1809
I created a recovery drive, all 21 gigabytes of it. When I put it through its paces to check it out I tried to get into safe mode. I booted from the USB 3 recovery drive with no problem.
I selected Choose An Option, then Troubleshoot, then Advanced options.
In Advanced Options were the following:-
System Restore, Uninstall Updates, System Image Recovery, Startup Repair, Command Prompt and UEFI Firmware Settings.
There was NO Startup Settings Option ie Safe Mode options.
So my questions are:-
1) Where has Startup options gone to? How do get it back?
2) Is there a different way of accessing Startup Options from the Recovery Drive
Thanks Terry

The USB Recovery does not have the same Windows 10 boot/repair options. Hopefully other users will post their opinion, but I think that those are two different things. Once the USB Recovery has built the Windows 10 image, you would then use the normal WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) to enter Safe Mode.

Chris M is correct. Safe Mode is not related to recovery drives. This guide describes 3 mechanisms for getting into Safe Mode on Windows 10, but a recovery drive would come into play if you wanted to restore your system to the state of the backup you captured onto the recovery drive, and if so, that would be performed via the System Image Restore tool, not Safe Mode. That said, if you want to capture system recovery images, you should really consider third-party options, since there are many free options that are all much more flexible than the tool built into Windows. I'm a fan of Macrium Reflect, which has a free version that should be sufficient if you just want to do this periodically so that you have a rollback option, but the paid version has some additional features that are admittedly quite handy if you find yourself wanting to use it more often, such as Incremental backups and Rapid Delta Restore.
