Touch Screen Driver Missing

Hi all. I have recently lost my Touch Screen Driver on my laptop. It quit working one day and trouble shooting led me to realize the driver is gone (it isn't even under hidden devices). All other functionality remains normal. The laptop is several years old, here are the specs:

Windows 10 Version 20h2 OS Build 19042.746.

Dell Inspiron 13 - 7000 Series - Model 7378

Is there anyway to fix it?

The Microsoft folks sent me here, you can see the original thread there: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/touch-screen-driver/ca612cde-e8df-40a8-ad5e-5dbde1e3f968?messageId=e09e2a16-8adb-4666-b429-a884e00f16ae&page=1

Mine is also missing. I tried installing and updating all of the dell hardware updates, and reinstalling the missing software that Microsoft had linked me too. Still i cannot find the driver and my touch screen is not working.

I have an All in One Dell that I bought a year ago from Costco.

Has anyone found a solution to this?  I updated to Windows 10 20H2 a month or so ago and the touchscreen was gone. I rolled back to my prior version and it worked fine. The update happened again last weekend and the touchscreen is gone again. I really don’t want to roll back to my prior version again as I lose everything I’ve installed when I do so. Help!!!

I did a chat with Dell and they were able to resolve the issue.  In my device manager, I had two "I2C HID Device".  one of them showed an error (! in a triangle).  I uninstalled that driver and restarted the laptop and the touchscreen worked again.

@Matt41272

You posted in the thread where the OP was about the Inspiron 13 7378 2-in-1.

If you have a different laptop, then you need to search for that laptop's firmware.

@Matt41272 I just tried uninstalling the "Wacom driver" first that was not working (which may come back when I reboot) and then the "I2C HID Device" (I only had the one instance that was working) and wow, I got my touch screen back and the I2C came back immediately as well. Thank you, thank you, after spending two days searching, updating several drivers, a complete factory reset, doing everything everyone else suggested from Microsoft communities to the Dell knowledgebase, yada, yada, banging my head against the wall, etc., etc... I am a happy camper now, thanks to your simple solution. An Eastern courtesy bow to you sir.

@ieee488 the trouble for me was that the firmware Dell said was compatible for 'my system' was not compatible, grrrr. It would not install.
