Touch screen stopped working after update

I have an Inspiron 7300 2n1 laptop. Today an update was installed, and following the update my touch screen no longer works. In device manager, it says my 12C HID device cannot start (code 10). I tried uninstalling it and restarting, but it still is not working. Please help!

I believe it was a Windows update.

Thank you for the link. I went to the first step and it says:

Confirm the computer or monitor has a touch screen
In Microsoft Windows
  1. In Windows, search for and open View pen and touch info.
  2. Under Device Specifications, if the Pen and touch section reads No pen or touch input is available for this display, the computer does not have a touch screen.

However, this computer DOES have a touch screen. Something must have happened in the update that makes it think it doesn't have a touch screen.

Do you remember which type of update? BIOS, driver or window update? Which one?

In the meantime, view the information in the link below, hopefully it will be a help to you:

You can Roll back to the previous version of windows 10 by following steps in link below:

How to roll back Windows 10 upgrade to a previous operating system | Dell US

Or....

Use the System Restore tool on the computer to go back to a earlier time when the touch screen was working;

1. Type Create A Restore Point onto the [Cortana] search box

2. Select System Restore. Next, Show More Restore Points

Use System Restore (microsoft.com)

Keep in mind, if you decide to go back to a previous window update, you have 10 days to do so.

Look forward to your update.....

Thank you. I didn't know there was a deadline to go back to the previous version so that's helpful.

After other suggestions didn't work, I ended up calling Dell support. They "took control" of the screen and tried a few different things. I'm not sure what ended up doing the trick, but it is working now. Thank you for the suggestions and information. This forum is so helpful.
