USB Port Type
What type of USB port do I have on a Inspiron N5040 Laptop? Specifically, the Ethernet port stopped working and I want to purchase a USB Ethernet Cable Adapter to bypass the broken port.
Thanks

@RichLCSW It appears you only have USB 2.0 ports, which have a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps. As a result, a Gigabit Ethernet adapter would be bottlenecked by that USB connection. However, I would still recommend getting a USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter rather than a USB 2.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter (and definitely not a USB 2.0 100 Mb Fast Ethernet adapter). USB 3.0 adapters aren't expensive, and whenever you get a system that has USB 3.0 ports, you'll be able to use that adapter to achieve full Gigabit speeds. And in the meantime, it will work just fine at USB 2.0 speeds with your current system.
