@Shonco Do you have Hyper-V installed on your system? If so, that would prevent other hypervisor engines from accessing hardware virtualization on the CPU. Check Windows Features to see if it's installed. If so, you'd either need to uninstall Hyper-V, or if you need to switch back and forth, you can create a secondary Windows BCD boot option that can start Windows without Hyper-V enabled whenever you don't need it and want to use VMware instead. Or you can continue without hardware virtualization, but you may see reduced performance.

i cant find my thread but i had the same issue . i buy a top range inspiron for vm work and you cant use nested vms ? very annoyed !!!!!! i use vmware workstation but had turned on hyper V too.
answer here :
Virtualization Intel VT-xEPT it not supported on t... - VMware Technology Network VMTN
basically, in windows features ( you will have to google how to enable it and involves a copy and paste into powershell ) , completely disable hyper V or if you have windows home, dont be tempted to install hyper v at all unless thats your vm !! vmware and hyper v hate each other !!
you only need to do step 1 and 2 !!
im not sure if the following helped but its worth clicking on in the windows features too :
'Windows subsystem for Linux' feature ON

The only fix for this issue that i have found is to untick Windows Hypervisor Platform in
