Do you see that even at the Windows logon screen? Try connecting an external monitor and if the problem is no longer there then it could be a display cable or the display itself. If the problem exists even on an external monitor it could be a problem with the IGPU or discrete GPU. Have you tried to run safe mode and if so is the problem gone? Try running diagnostics, F12 at boot, and watch for any display errors. If everything looks good then it could be a program or app causing the problem. Also run an antivirus scan in case a virus or malware could be the cause.

I went to the Task Manager, clicked on the Detail tab, went down the first row, found MiniSearchHost, right clicked on it, hit End Task and the translucent box went away.

It might reappear but at least this takes it away! Must be a Windows Explorer 11 bug.
