Windows Processes using too much GPU and memory
In the last few days, whenever I play I have insane frame drops. Using MSI Afterburner and Task Manager, I found that when the drops happen, the Nvidia GPU lowers its % of usage, the Intel GPU rises up to 100%, and the CPU increases up to 100%, for approximately 30 seconds, and then everything turns back to normal. Minutes later, all of this happens again.
When I play light games like Minecraft this is even more common, and when going into the Intel Graphics chart in Task Manager, it shows that, out of nowhere, its usage spikes to 100% and then lowers again.
When watching the processes that are open when this occurs, Desktop Window Manager and Client Server Runtime Process often appear to be using 70%+ of my Intel GPU. Other program that has recently showed up consuming a lot of resources is Service Shell, though it doesn't show often.
I have searched online for a fix but no one seems to have the correct answer. I have done the following:
-Deleted and reinstalled the latest Nvidia drivers from both the Dell page and from Nvidia themselves
-Set Battery Mode to Max Performance
-Set Nvidia to "Prefer Maximum Performance"
-Set Nvidia as the preferred graphics processor
-Close background apps
-Turn "Transparency Effects" off
-Update and downgrade several versions of Intel drivers from the Intel and Dell pages
-From System Properties (Performance Options) change to "Adjust for best performance"
-Disabled Desktop Windows Manager at startup (it still opens itself)
-Updated Windows
My laptop is a Dell G5 15, with 16 gb RAM, i5-8300H @ 2.30 GHz, GTX 1060 Max Q, 1tb HDD, 256 gb SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 630, with just two years of use.
I've tried everything, any help would be really, really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
