DEPLOYMENT failures and questions

The goal of this discussion is to provide a place for any initial IDPA/PPDP Deployment- planning, questions or issues.

This will be a work in progress and we welcome questions and contributions from all.

Lets get started...

Dell Professional Services (PS) normally does initial Deployments of IDPA/PPDP and is the best resource for planning and preparation before the Deployment.

Contact your Account Manager to get the process started, or if you need help we can assist to get it started.

*Since Dell PS normally does the Deployments, some references provided in this discussion may not be visible to all.

First, here is a reference to help with pre-deployment preparation:

Please ensure you have run Network Validation Tool (NVT) before beginning deployment.

This Discussion will be focused more on Deployment failures (Support team) rather than planning and preparation before Deployment (PS team).

We will be adding to this, but here is a start for DP4400...

DP4400 Common Depolyment Failures Guide

To be continued.....

We welcome questions and contributions from all.

If you found this useful please give KUDOS to help others find the information also.

thanks

Hi @JIJOYBABU , sorry I was OOO and didn't see your post until now.

I am assuming you are already done with the deployment, but if still need help let us know.

You can also email me directly roderick.kemp@dell.com in-case I don't see a new post in this forum.

thanks

Adding some additional info here:

For TIME issues during deployment/initial network config- see also:

https://www.dell.com/community/Integrated-Data-Protection/DP4400-How-to-avoid-known-NTP-issue-which-causes-a-deployment/m-p/7312231

Similar time difference issues can occur on DP5x/8x Deployments also.

A sample issue just seen today is below:

DELLRodK_0-1656629327595.png

The below KB is Internal only but you can refer to it if communicating with Support for help:

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000190170/time-difference-between-ntp-and-idpa-components

Basically, you can manually set the times in each esxi GUI to match what you think the NTP server time is- within a couple minutes. Then since the box is checked by default for the VM to sync time with the host, the acm and vcsa etc should auto sync to the hosts- so really only the esx hosts should need to sync directly w NTP. If needed, can also manually set the time on a physical Av or DD if getting similar messages about those. That should allow the Deployment to move past the initial Net config stage.

We welcome questions and contributions from all.

If you found this useful please give KUDOS to help others find the information also.

thanks
