Chimers
Please advise one of correct statement from Below. this statement confusing me a lot.
1. By default, If the cluster has more that three nodes, three of the nodes are selected as chimers.
2. If the cluster four nodes or less, only one node is selected as a chimer.

Hello Alp Arslan,
The default chimer setting is 3nodes that contact NTP servers. Now you can change it from the default of 3 to 1 if you would like, as you will need to go to the chimer settings to do so. Here is a link to the PowerScale OneFS Web Administration Guide & if you look on page 43 it explains about the NTP time server. https://dell.to/3p9l6Oa

Hello Alp Arslan,
What is your current onefs version? Here is a link to a kb that explains more about how the chimers work. https://dell.to/3nNNd5O

Dear Sir,
I'm preparing for PowerScale IE exam and found conflict on this statement in study material. Both statements are totally reciprocal of each other.

Is it official study material that has conflicting statements? What does it say?

Yes, it's an official document. I'll share screen with you.
Below are statements..
1. By default, If the cluster has more that three nodes, three of the nodes are selected as chimers.
2. If the cluster four nodes or less, only one node is selected as a chimer.

Hi @DELL-Sam L and @DELL-Josh Cr,
Could you please help me understand the mentioned statement?
It says if the cluster > 3 nodes then 3 nodes are selected as chimers. At the same time, it says if the cluster =< 4 nodes only one node is selected as a chimer.
Sorry guys, I'm still confused
Thanks,

Hi Almonthiry
This may be the case of the study material content have not have been updated (or this question may have been missed).
By default, a cluster has three chimer nodes. Chimer nodes are the three lowest LNNs in the cluster. If a chimer node goes offline, the node with the next-lowest LNN takes its place. In a 3-node cluster, there is only one chimer node (the node with the lowest LNN).
So I would say based on that, the following assumptions:
Cluster nodes =< 4 would be Gen 4/5 nodes (where 3 physical nodes is the minimum required to form a cluster) or a simulator instance.
Cluster nodes > 4 would be Gen 6+ nodes (where 4 physical nodes is the minimum required to form a cluster).
Let me know if that helps..
Cheers..
