Hello tedew,

What is your current onefs version? Are you using PowerProtect Data Manager for your snapshots? Are you restoring to a different node?

hello,

I have OneFS 9.4.

I am using builtin methods in OneFS ( DataProtection -> SnapshotIQ )  for snapshots, replication etc.

"Are you restoring to a different node?" I'm not sure how to check this. I juts connect to my PoweScale by SSH (every time on the same IP - set as managemt)

Thanks,

Hello tedew,

Are you restoring to a windows host or a unix host? Here is a link to the PowerScale OneFS 9.4.0.0 Web Administration Guide that shows how to find if you have more than 1 node.

@tedew  is it a mixed cluster?  maybe the snapshots are in archive nodes now.

Hi,
After one year I had to do the same test of restoring VMs from .snapshot :) I have the same issue - low restoring from snapshots folder to other folder.

maybe I shoud use some other way to restore instead of CP - C /ifs/.snapshot/.MY_VM /ifs/resterord_Vm_test ??

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

What version of OneFS are you running? Is all other performance fine?

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

hello,

We have still OneFS 9.4 - it is isolated enviroment.

Yes, reousres are fine.

I might have a stupid question — does it matter if I run cp -c from inside a .snapshot directory?

It should work from anywhere as long as you specify the full path. cp /ifs/.snapshot/<snapshot_name>/<directory> /ifs/<target_directory>

Are th file sizes small? It could also depend on how many snapshots it needs to go through to get the files.

@tedew ,  you can also synciq from shapshot to directory, uses all nodes instead of single thread cp -c.
