Mixed use of BSD and Linux ACL semantics
I have an Isilon that has been running for several years using the setting "When an ACL exists, use Linux and Windows semantics, otherwise use BSD semantics." I now have a requirement to provide an export that always follow the Linux or System V semantics. Is it possible to have this setting apply to only a specific export or specific zone instead of cluster-wide. I am hesitant to change this setting cluster-wide as I do not know what effect it might have for existing clients.
Also based on the description, it appears that perhaps an appropriate ACL could be placed on my export folder to cause Linux semantics to occur, however regardless of what I try related to ACLs, mode/sticky bits, setgid, etc, I cannot get the behavior that I expect when reading back files after writing.
Does anyone have some guidance that may help with this?? I have read the Isilon multiprotocol access guide which explains this feature but I still do not understand exact how this works or if what I need to achieve is possible or not. Any assistance is appreciated.
