Upgrading Simulator to 9.5

When trying to upgrade the simulator from 9.4.0.18 to 9.5 or 9.7 I get an error "Error:No support for old linear journal in newer OneFS versions".  Is there any workaround?  I would rather upgrade our current simulator environment to test how upgrades might go for our prod environments.
