Audio Problems PLEASE HELP!

I just had my motherboard replaced by a dell tech because I was having a problem with my firewire port. Anyway now I can't get any sound even with the volume turned all the way up. It's not muted. It only works when I plug in my headphones. I have an Inspiron 8200. Please help. TIA

I also had other problems after having it replaced, my touchpad won't work.

Thanks for replying. I reinstalled the sound and toughpad drivers to no avail. I don't know what model my new motherboard is. How do I check? TIA

Hi,

It sounds like the palm-rest connector is loose. It is under the keyboard. Does it ask for the date and time when you boot ? If so this will be the case. The keyboard is held in with 4 screws underneath marked " K " and the connector is centre front under the keyboard.

                                                                      Regards Chris

It doesn't ask for the date and time.  Could it still be the palm-rest connector?

Thank you so very much.  I removed the keyboard, and the connector was lose.  Now everything works perfectly.  Thanks again for all the help :smileyvery-happy:
