It may be a CPU that has lost its seating, a common problem with the CP/CPi. Remove the keyboard and the Heatsink, and press down on the Circuit Board/CPU corner without a screw using a antistatic bag between your thumb and the board. Dell has made a mod kit for that unsecured corner, a clip  with P/N 2103T, which helps prevent a reoccurence. You can tell if the CPU is seated properly; there are a series of holes around the recess in which the CPU is installed. All of the holes should be partially covered and evenly all the way round the recess.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I removed the keyboard and heatsink, and checked te lower left corner (where there was no screw) but it's still in the correct place, removed the 3 screws took the processor out, en reinstalled it.  (with an antistatic ground mat under me) No luck, still the same beeps.

Anyone else ?

Remove the RAM modules one at a time and try each alone, and in both slots. Check around the slot bases for foreign material or metallic debris possibly causing a short. Some other folks in the Forum have also reported that a bad Video Flex Cable will cause "No Boot" problems. To check that, you must remove the Port cover and then the Palmrest also. Unplug the Cable from the Video daughter  board and while you are at it ,check the seating on that board also. The connection which came unseated on mine(once) was just ahead of the Keyboard Plug. After unplugging the Video cable, hook up a PC monitor to the connection on the rear and try booting up with that. If it does, then reseat the Video Flex cable and try it again.  I believe you begin to see where you are going with this routine. The fact it was working and stopped suddenly means something came loose or failed, and you are trying to nail down what, where, and how bad

Thank you for all the support, tryed the video cable, but it was seated ok Checked the other things and everything seems to be in position .

Strange because it was working at a friend of mine as mp3 palyer in a cafe, so it was just standing over there without being moved or so when this beeping has begun.

Changed the ram with another one ... still the same

Begin to think he has to see for another one ....

If you know another thing to try just tell me (i'll do almost anything to get it working again)

And thanks!

See if this link will help you

If you want to try another CPU, I have a spare 266 in my junk box from a working unit, since I never throw anything away. It may not be as fast as the one you have now, but it is free except for postage.
