Black screen yet computer is running...HELP!

So one day i woke up and turn on my Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop like usual. I left the room and when I came back in the computer screen was competly off, like off off(no lights or anything). I thought the screen finally died because the computer has been reaching a peak 93 degrees quite often lately. The very next day however, i turned it on and to my surprise it work like normal again. this time I made sure i stayed with the computer. I was listen to music when all of a sudden the screen got all fuzzy/corrupted for a brief 30 seconds. Ten mintunes later it crashed and i was left with a black screen(no lights) but the computer was still running. At the same time it crashed, the music skipped while in black screen. I turned  the computer off then turned it back on, but it was just a black motionless screen, yet the laptop was running. I don't think its a screen problem on the account that the music skipped when it crashed rather than continuing to play so.....any suggestion? Is it time for the laptop to die or is it a hardware problem? P.S had this laptop for a good 1 1/2 to 2 years.

Well I actually got my laptop working again so I guess I should tell how I did it for anyone having the same issue. The problem with my laptop is when you turn on the laptop nothing shows, no dell startup no f8 or f12 or anything. the keyboard does not respond as well. this is not a black screen of death problem or a blue screen of death. What I did the first and second that this happened to my laptop top is that i simply got mad and decided to just turn on the computer and leave it to the point where it will just overheat and fry the computer. Shockingly after maybe 1 or 2 hours of leaving the laptop on with the black screen, i simply turned it off and on again and then bam! it starts up fine again.:emotion-2::emotion-2::emotion-2:

That temperature is far too high - if you can get the system to power up, it needs to be addressed.  If not, then it's likely the overheating has damaged something - most likely the system board or hard drive.

Will the system power up after a reset (remove the battery, unplug the system and hold the power button for 30 seconds;  then try starting up).

tried that already and it didn't work, i know its been overheating because it crash with a blue screen from time to time when it reaches a high temperature, but im a bit skeptic because the laptop did turned on again and did work like normal. Another thing was that I saw that the temperature was around 50-65 during the crash. However, if your right about the overheating damaging some component, what do you think is the best solution to fix it? replce it? open it up? or just scrap it?
