blinking keyboard backlight and screen

Question

M15 model. In safe mode I can work around the system so I know the defaults are fine. I can not figure out why the keyboard backlight, the alienware word underthe screen and the lights at the base are blinking in red. I can get to just before you log on before the screen starts blinking and it stays stuck there. This happen a couple of weeks ago and I was able to fix it by picking a restore point. Now the system tells me there are no restore points. Can any one help me out? I really hate to restore to factory original settings. Any help is apprecaited!

More info on computer: Alienware M15X 64 bit Windows 7 Intel i7 Already tried service manager selecting half of the services, but that did not seem to work.
