There is also more info on the bottom of that screen that says the problem. Once you have all that info you can contact Dell and they will tell u the problem.

Tara:

0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
This usually indicates corruption on the hard drive.

I suggest putting in your Windows disk and then restart your computer.

When you see the Dell screen starting tapping on F12 until you get the boot menu.

Select the cd/dvd drive

You'll get a message confirming that you want to boot from that drive and immediately tap on the space bar when you see it.

Once Windows Setup is done loading press R to load the recovery console.

When it asks for your operating system press 1 and then Enter.

Once you see the C:\ prompt, type CHKDSK C: /R

It will check and attempt recovery of your drive information if it finds corruption.

Once it's done, just restart your computer.

Good luck! :smileyhappy:

GentleGiant:

NMI Parity errors usually indicate a specific hardware failure. Usually it is one of the RAM stick in your computer. It can also be caused by faulty memory on your video card. For you, I recommend running hardware diagnostics to narrow down what exactly is causing the problem.

As soon as you turn on your computer tapp on F12 until you get the boot menu, but select Diagnostics.

If the PSA diags finish and don't find any problems, run the extended memory tests (It can take some time).

After that, if no problems are found it should ask you to boot to the utility partition.

Then select Test System and go to the Custom test category. Run the video hardware and memory tests.

If at any point, you get an error message, write it down and contact Dell XPS tech support to assist you: 1-800-232-8544

GentleGiant, you may want to take your computer in to a shop if the computer isn't turning on anymore.

Jjm7, I think that either one or both of your memory modules could be damaged. Turn off your computer, remove the battery and power cord. take off the plastic memory door on the bottom of the laptop (usually centered). Take out one memory stick and see if the same thing happens. If not, that's the faulty module. If the same problem happens again, put the module back in and take the other one out.

Here's a link to your manual to show you how to remove the memory: XPS M1210 memory removal
