Blue screen caused by memory management issues

I bought an Dell inspiron 1420 last June 2008.

Recently, I am encountering blue screen issue with memory management problems as error message.

I tried to run  Dell PC check up program for 3 times and it failed on memory testing.

    1st run:

Failed in Memory High bit Test

    2nd run

Failed in Memory High bit Test

    3rd run

Failed in Auxillary pattern test, Advance Pattern test, Memory walking One left and One right Tests

This is the common messge posted for all of the failures.

***** The scan failed with the following errors:

InternalErrorPostEvent - Internal exception in DiagModule::start():index out of bounds :

expected  value in [0, -1], but encountered the value 1Stack Trace:(end stack trace)

***NOTE*** Use stracktraceparser.exe to traslate the instruction offsets into function names

               then rerun the scan.

Please help me interpret the errors and how to get and use the stacktraceparser.exe and suggest some

   solutions to this problems.

I had a similar issue when I had mis-matched memory in my system (one running at 800Mhz, one at 667 Mhz).  My mother did when her memory was overheating.  I'd first check to see if the memory is super-hot, and then look to see if the numbers on the RAM sticks match.

Hi Downix,

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have checked my physical memories and found out that they are both running @667 Mhz.

Maybe the root cause is different from what you have experienced.

Rest assured that I will include it as one of my troubleshooting steps when encountering memory related problems.

Thanks again.
