Blue Screen Error After Formatting Hard Drive/Installing XP & Overheating CPU

I decided to format my hard drive and install a fresh Win XP as my laptop was running slow, having crashing apps, very high CPU usage in Task Manager and getting very hot , I successfully formatted the hard drive, and Win XP loaded the setup files on the hard drive although it took around 2 hours.

After it loaded the setup files and rebooted I encountered a blue screen error alot like the one here:

http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-118712-blue-screen-while-trying-to-install-xp

I tried the solution suggested in bios but within my bios there is no config or hard drive option.

So i'm not sure what to do.

Also, for the first time ever my laptop powered itself off during my 1st attempt at formatting my hard drive. Then when I rebooted it said it turned off because the laptop was getting too hot.

So there's two problems really.

For the overheating am I right in thinking it's best not to turn the laptop on until I have a fix ?
