Thanks Ravi
an external keyboard worked just fine on my system when i tried one. What do i do next? Do i still need to update the BIOS?

Hi onuwaje,
I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.

Also, please use an external USB keyboard on the system to check if the issue reoccurs.
Please let me know if this helps.

Please update the BIOS on the system to check if the Ctrl keys or you may have to replace the keyboard on your system.
