Buzzing/Grinding/Popping/Stuttering noise coming from speakers for Dell Inspiron N7110.

This is a similar problem I'm reading ALL over the forums, and I've tried ALL the suggestions from those posts that say they work. Sadly, there's no problem for MY laptop model, it's always for some 15-- something.

I get a buzzing/grinding/popping/stuttering noise when I listen to music, when I watch YouTube videos, or do much of anything that requires sound. It comes through the laptop speakers, any headphones I use, and even when I plug in speakers to use. I've tried everything; rolling back drivers, updating drivers, installing some Rapid somethingsomething thing from Intel, I'm becoming desperate. It's been going on for two or more weeks now, and I'm at my wit's end.

My computer model is a Dell Inspiron N7110 with Windows 7 64bit.

Seeing as there's no other forum posts about this problem with this model, I don't exactly have a place to turn without actually posting something about it.

Alright guys, I've got two computers from Dell. A laptop - XPS 1645 & a PC - XPS 9100. The laptop was the first one who got hit by that strange noise thing while listening to youtube vids, music, movies, etc. I've got rid of it by doing a system restore. Then, it was always coming back the week after or so. The PC got the same problem too. Then, I managed to get rid of the whole problem on the laptop by having the older driver version (2009) of the INTEL(R) SATA thing which was previously mentionned in this thread or another one. It did solved the problem on the laptop but not the PC, 'till I realized my laptop had a Turbo boost monitor. I deceided to install one on my PC since I had nothing to lose and guess what? Problem is fixed here too! (I keep my fingers crossed!)

Thanks for posting. I would like to add your solution for the Studio XPS 1645 model to the Choppy/Skipping Audio FAQ if you could supply a little more info please. Are you running Vista or 7 on that machine?

On the Studio XPS 1645 downloads page I see in the SATA category the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (7-21-10) and the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (9-23-09). You replaced the Rapid storage with the Matrix, correct? Thanks for helping.

Of course, feel free to use those infos if it can help more people! Yes, I am running Windows 7 on both computers and you are correct, I replaced the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (7-21-10) with the Matrix Storage Manager (9-23-09). That, plus a Turbo boost monitor seems to have done the job on both machines. I've been listening to music for long periods of time over the past 2-3 days without a single stretching noise! (*Crossed fingers still*)

I do not think the problem with the sound, because sometimes the normal mode as I type, start freezing, but not completely, but at intervals.

ZlatkoST is right. I have same configuration and the same problem. Laptop freezes for a 1 or 2 sec. and the sound just starts buzzing for that  time.

I don't think problem it's with the sound. Also friend who bought same laptop has that problem.

I didn't try my laptop with Ubuntu.. then I could say is it only software or hardware problem. Maybe problem is with IRQ's.

Can anyone from DELL explain this strange behavior of their product!

P.S. I've run Dell diagnostic and there was no problem found!

Here's what I did and worked, ....contol panel, system and security, device manager, sound, video and game controlers, ....right click on IDT HD AUDIO CODEC, click on "scan for hardware changes".....Hope this will work for you.

It is possible that I have found a solution. Testing 3 days and still not be a problem occurred.

I saw in previous posts that mention deleting Intel Rapid Storage Technology and installing the old version of the Matrix, but it does not work on my laptop and laptops of my friends, because the Matrix is not supported on my hardware. The whole time I doubt the IRST and waiting for new versions, nor last one I took off did not help.

And unfortunately, the only thing that works is to erase the Intel Rapid Storage Technology. A laptop will work 15 percent slower, better than every little slower that destroys me with those errors.

oh my dell, sadly all of this. This error is on your forums for a year now and nothing resolved the problem.

Three days is to short time period for testing. I have tried this month ago and the problem occurred again.. maybe not often. I still believe that the problem is with IRQ's .. maybe driver installation order can solve the problem.. but definitely gays from DELL know about this problem and they even won't answer to question that I have sent them trough tech support.

Maybe they are ashamed because of this problem.

This is same stuff, but I don't have McAfee as he did.. and basically people try all kind of "crazy" stuff and they think if there is no problem for couple of days that they have solved it...

To me enough, I have no problems. All day playing music and certainly made no mistake. Today is the fourth day that I have no problems. Besides this problem, I had a problem with the touchpad when the laptop was on the charger. After deleting the Intel Rapid Storage drivers no longer have any of these problems.

Believe me, these were made and my friends who also have n7110 with i7 processor and none of them has not had a problem.

Marko_m, unfortunately, you're right, this morning is the first time a few days later the same problem occurred. Never again will I buy a Dell, but not because of this issue, but because in a year people talk about this problem, and they are not able to fix it. Shame on Dell
