Cant boot without removing dvd drive from laptop

Hi all, I have a dell xps15 2010 model. Couple of months ago I wanted to upgreade the ram and I inserted a different frequency ram in the slot. From then I havent been able to boot the laptop with the dvddrive inserted. I have to remove the dvddrive or put a tape over the sata connector to get the laptop to boot.

I never upgraded the ram and still running the stock ram but after that once accident I havent been able to use the dvd drive. I even bought a dvd caddy and checked. The laptop still doesnt boot when the caddy is in.

Not sure what the issue might be and how to fix it.

Thanks.

siddharthshekar,

You will need to contact Dell support at 1-800-624-9897. Parts may need to be replaced.
