Change processor speed in 710m BIOS

Hi I have had an Inspiron 710m for the last 2 years and am very satisfied with it.  It has an Intel Centrino 2Ghz Processor (single core) with 1 Go RAM 1 DDR .

I recently found out that the processor's variable speed energy saving feature causes problems with DOS virtual machines.  Since no tools can be installed on them to sync with the host, the CPU (of the host) tends to remain stuck at 100% of its capacity, litterally freezing the host.  I think the solution would be to have a constant speed of the processor when the computer is plugged.

I was wondering if there is an utility available that allows to change the BIOS settings to have max CPU speed when plugged and the great energy saving feature when on the battery.

The BIOS options available before OS boot don't offer this possibilty

Thanks

This is generally done through the power profile in the control panel - HOWEVER, bear in mind that the system was not engineered to run at full speed all the time; doing so will cause more heat to be produced, shortening the lifespan of the internal components of the system (particularly the hard drive and system board) as a result.
