changing default setting Inspiron 6400 LCD

I'd like to make my computer screen brighter when it runs on battery. Dell told me I could change the LCD default setting. How do I do this? Thanks.

you can adjust the brightness using the Fn + up/down arrow keys.

You didn't tell us what OS, so I'm going to assume Vista.
Click Start then type "Power Options" and press Enter.
Under "Balancecd" "Power Saver" and "High Performance" Click on "Change plan settings"

Then you will see a slider - one under "On battery" and one under "Plugged in"

Adjust it for each, and then save.

If you have Xp, then I'll have to look it up online.

Thanks the Fn button plus arrows up and down did it for me. BTW my OS is Windows XP. Thanks for your help. Dan
