Try printing from Notepad and see if that is any different.  You may also want to look at Word Perfect.  I am no longer truly familiar with Word Perfect, but I know that some earlier versions required that you install a printer within Word Perfect, as well as having one installed in Windows.

 

The fact that you can print the test page means that is almost certainly a setting.  Even if it does not help, reinstalling the drivers should not hurt anything.
