Connecting to an external monitor

I am trying to connect my Inspiron 2200 to a 42" plasma screen. I have connected the laptop via VGA/DVI lead. When i switch the TV to PC mode i get a message `no input signal'. What do i have to do to the laptop to switch off the laptop screen and send to the TV.
Thanx

I just hooked up an external monitor to my Inspiron 4100 since my screen keeps going white. I had a similar problem as you. I downloaded free multimonitor software from ATI Technologies that solved the issue. It's called hyrdavision.

Thanx that worked great.
Don't know if you can help with this one but whilst in PC mode the the tv has a PIP function which allows you to view the TV aswell. When pressing button it says function not available. In TV troubleshooting it says about screen resolution. Have tried it @ 800x600 & 1024x768 but still no good. It then says about PC having digital output. Does my inspiron 2200 have this feature??

I don't know, but I would guess not. My 4100 is about 4 years old and I would guess that yours is about the same.
