Hi Ves2003,

Please elaborate on the issue. I would recommend you to run the diagnostics to check the hardware functionality.

To run ‘Dell Diagnostics’

  • Power off the computer
  • Restart the computer, press F12 on the Dell logo
  • Select ‘Diagnostics’ from the boot menu
  • Please refer to the link if any error code shows up http://dell.to/OUGnqT

Please reply if you have any questions.

The D610 never came with Vista.  There are no VISTA video drivers and never will be.

Intel 915GM based graphics DOES NOT SUPPORT Vista.

Thank you for your reply, I will try this weekend. I have run Vista for 6 months now with no problem, Garmin mobile, Skype, media center with usb tuner, however everytime I run SP1 it crashes. Thanks again, I will run diagnostics this weekend. Vernon

There is almost a full set of Windows Vista 32 bit drivers under legacy drivers on the Dell FTP Website. If memory serves correctly the Inspiron 1300 (the Inspiron 1300 definitely did) and D610 temporally had Windows Vista 32 bit listed on drivers and downloads page during the Windows Vista release.

There is:

  • Dell Notebook Software.
  • Intel Chipset
  • Texas Instruments PCI 6515 Cardbus
  • Dell Static Inventory Collector
  • The ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Series Video
  • Audio
  • Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller
  • Dell Wireless/Intel PROSET

The only real things missing was the Intel Video Driver which doesn't matter if the model has the ATI driver and the Dell Quickset Application. The Intel XP Video driver can be installed via the device manager and works. Dell Quickset well the XP version can be installed but a few additional steps have to be made.

Please reinstall Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 via A Clean Install. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 contains a lot of system drivers and sometimes these clash with the existing drivers. Clean Installation with edia that contains Windows Vista Service Pack resolves many of these issues.

Follow the instructions in my Wiki Windows Reinstallation Guide

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3524/t/19480753.aspx

Page 288 i.e. Follow "To copy the DVD to another DVD with SATA Drivers and SP1".

Then follow my wiki A Clean Install of Windows Vista (page 115). I recommend installing Vista Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer 9 before the system drivers but it isn't as critical as installation of Service Pack 1 before the system drivers.

You really shouldn't Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 runs much better than Windows Vista without Service Pack 1.

For the Intle GM915 the HP driver here might work: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=ob-47264-1

If you have these graphics and it works, please let me know.
