Dell Inspiron M5030 - 7 beeps and black screen - processor failure

Hi,

I bought my Dell M5030 in February 2011, meaning that the warranty has expired. All was fine until I started the laptop up a couple of days ago and I got a black screen and 7 beeps, which according to the book means processor failure. I have tried several time to start the computer and the same thing happens each time.

I would appreciate any advice as I have seen on this forums that a number of other people have had the exact same problem with this particular model and therefore sounds like a fault with the processors in these Dell laptops.

Thanks

I bought my Dell inspiron M5010 in May 2011 ($699.99+ $58.62 (tax)= $758.61).  It is doing the exact same thing as your laptop. I took it to Bestbuy and I paid $69.99 to know the processor failure. I never had a laptop go bad quickly like this. I wasted my money. I will not buy any thing from Dell. Let’s me know if you are successful in replacing processor. Good luck.

Are you success in fixing your laptop. Geek squad in Best Buy test my laptop (dell inspiron M5010) and they confirm that "processor failed". I want to buy processor to replace. However, I fear that it doesn't  work. Let's  me know if your latop can work after you fixed it. Thank

I'm writing from the fixed laptop, and the problem was NOT the CPU. But we are with M5030, maybe our problem is only with this model. If the guys test the laptop and tell you that you have CPU failure, then ask them to change the CPU, and if the problem is not fixed dont pay anything. But tis is my opinian.

Hi

I sent Dell-Royan S a message and he sent a tech to my house. My Dell inspiron M5010 laptop was fixed by replacing a part.

Royan S is very nice. You can send him a message to fix your laptop.

Dell sent someone out to collect my computer and are currently fixing the problem. The customer service so far has been 1st class.Contact them and they will help

Seriously? You call this is "first class customer service?"

My laptop might as well still be broken as its getting so hot that I am afraid to use it.  Additionally, the laptop is was not reassembled correctly.  In numerous places, its obvious the tech forced the parts together the pieces are no longer flush against one another.  I'm including photos of the bottom and the hinge area behind the screen.  Also, when my laptop is open, directly under the screen at the hinge there is a piece paper that is sticking out from the inside.  If my laptop has this many exterior defects after being repaired, the there is no way the inside was repaired correctly.  The technician rushed through the job and was in my apartment for a grand total of 20 minutes. Further, he never called to set up an appointment. He just showed up, somehow gained access to my building, bypassed the call box at the front door and the elevator security code, and awakened me by beating on my front door. He said he was in the area so he decided to try and see if anyone was home.  Which would have been fine, except for the fact that received no advance warning whatsoever.  The least he could've done was check in with the office in the lobby of my building before hitching a ride in the elevator (which requires a key fob for access and again to select the desired floor number) with an unsuspecting resident and brazenly beating on my door.  I almost didn't answer the door because I was asleep, wasn't expecting anyone, and had no idea who he was or what he wanted.

I HAVE REPORTED THIS ON GOING ISSUE TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND ALL MEDIA OUTLETS. THIS STORY  WILL SOON BE FEATURED NATIONWIDE VIA THE LOCAL DALLAS ABC AFFILIATE. PEOPLE SHOULD BE WELL INFORMED WHAT THEYBARE RECEIVING WHEN PURCHASING ANY DELL PRODUCT.

Same Dell model, CPU just failed this am.   I have read all posts from 2012 and 2013 and I have decided to respond to one of the latest posts.

Since this is unacceptable,  I am planning to research any Class Action against Dell for this manufacturing negligence using inferieor components.  I had a Toshiba Satellite laptop 6 or 7 years ago and found out that their was a class action suit, and Tosiiba offered replacement or $1000.  In this case, I had to replace four hard drives and other issues abound.

Let's get this circulated and I am sure their is an attorney who will initiate if not already filed. Spread the word.
