dell latitude d630 split screen problems

For a while now my laptop have done the horizontal split screen and I had don't last know good configuration and it worked fine a couple of hours and has fixed and more since then... I have also tried device manager and i doesn't pull up a monitor link do i need a new graphics card

Hi,

Try installing Dell Support Center from the link given below.
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/services/en/dsc_home?c=us&l=en&s=gen
In case that doesn't works:
Try running  the diagnostics from One time boot menu.
Restart the computer, keep tapping F12, Select Diagnostics and press Enter.
Capture the error code if provided by the test and let me know I would  assist you with the next course of action.

Ok I did the LCD test and the lines wasn't there.. Now I'm trying to install the dell support from the link you sent me..  The screen that's up say .net frame work Microsoft... Just want to make sure it's installing the right thing

Hello,

There are few steps that I would suggest to isolate if it is a video card issue.
1. LCD BIST.
-- Shutdown the computer.
-- Press D+Power Button.
-- It would run the test on the LCD.
Check if the horizontal stripes are seen during the test. If yes then it would be the LCD issue. Else follow the next step.

2. Run Diagnostics on the Video Card.
-- Run PC checkup, Custom Scan on the Video Card.
Click Start, All Programs, Dell, Dell Support Center and Launch PC Checkup.
-- In case you don’t have Dell Support Center, Please follow the link to download and install Dell Support Center.

-- Click Download.
Run the test and capture the error code and let me know I assist you with the next course of action.

I am at dell support installation and it said this software package is not designed for use with this machine type..... Now what do I do

i got the following error code after running system diagnostics   0140 after my Dell D630 laptop split screen into six small screens

message error code 2000-0148

That diagnostic refers to a bad hard drive.  Remove and reinstall the drive - then re-run the test.  If it appears again, replace the drive.
