Dell Media Direct fro Windows 7
Hi I have clean installed Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit onto a 120gb hard drive. NO Dell partitions. what do i need to install to make the media direct buttons work on this Inspiron 6400 Laptop

I know that, but are you saying that if a user replaces a failed hard drive and installs a new one that all this functionality has gone.
surely Dell has a way of recreating this partition.

You have destroyed your media direct and therefore you cant get those buttons to work. Media Direct is a proprietary Dell partition.

Follow my wiki A Clean Install of Windows. You should have a Dell Media Direct DVD, you will need to boot from it, let it set up the partitions. Boot from the Windows DVD, install Windows and then insert the Media Direct DVD while on the desktop to install the application. Full details are in my wiki.
