Dell Studio 1558: I cannot eject the DVD

Dear all,

My DVD/CR-W was working perfect. I introduced a DVD, and I can read it and browse the DVD content but I cannot eject it.

Every time I try to eject it with windows, the eject button o whatever I get an error saying "Error ejecting the DVD"

Is there any emergency way of eject this DVD?

Thanks in advace,

Alberto

Often times on a dvd/cd drive there is a hole on it, the size enough to enter a paper clip that you can push in to release the drive.

The emergency hole you mean does not exist in this laptop model, that's my problem. Any more suggestions? Thanks anyway, Alberto

You should be able to right click on the drive in my computer and hit eject. If not.

You can try to re seat the drive and see if that makes a difference. If not then I would replace the drive.

We can't be suggesting replacing the DVD unit just because there's a DVD in there that won't come out? Really? That'd be a shame. I've the same issue with my 1558. I am not against opening it up and fishing it out, but my machine is still covered...so I'll get dell to do that I hope:)
