Do I have an Ethernet port?

If someone has a sec, may I trouble you to look at the attached diagram from my Dell manual?

I'm about to buy a printer that connects to the computer via Ethernet port. Do I have an Ethernet port? I don't see the word "Ethernet" on this diagram, so am guessing the port goes by another name.

In 22 years of computing, this is my first encounter with an Ethernet cable!

Kind thanks.

Yes, it's #3 on the back view.  That said, it's unusual to connect a printer by Ethernet - more likely, the printer AND computer connect separately to an ethernet switch or hub (or wall port).

New printers are usually wireless and the ethernet connection is for connection to the router, not the computer. The printer can also connect wirelessly to a wireless router. Connection to the router will make the printer available for all computers on the network without sharing. What model printer? The printer web site will have instructions for setting up the new printer for wireless access. Your computer has internal wireless card since a wireless switch is shown.

Thanks very much! I really appreciate your help.

Googling "Ethernet hubs", I see a lot of big, clunky things with 4-8 ports. (For office use, obviously.)

I also came across THIS.

It has one Ethernet port and one USB port, and it appears to plug into the laptop. Do you think that would suffice for a solitary geezer with a single laser printer?

Again, thanks.

Hi, Mary! Thanks for jumping in.

Here's the printer listing on Amazon.

It lists "Ethernet only" and "Easy-access USB." (One Amazon customer said he had to print via Ethernet when the USB connection didn't work. That's what got me thinking. Needless to say, I'd love it if I could just plug the printer into my laptop's USB port.)

So.....no wireless printing with this printer. (For the record, I don't have a router in my apartment. My online access is via a thumb-drive-sized USB broadband modem that plugs into the laptop.)

Tangentially, I've yet to test my laptop's wireless capabilities. The laptop stays home, and I don't own a single device it could communicate wirelessly with! (Am not a smart phone user.)

If you're just using the single notebook with that printer, forget the Ethernet connection and just use a standard A to B USB cable (the printer has a USB port on the back of it).

I'll try that first, ejn63, and thanks.

When that one (1) Amazon customer reported trouble connecting to his printer via USB, I got nervous. None of the other customers posted that complaint, so I probably have nothing to worry about!

Again, thank you all for taking the time to help me.
