Error code using EPSA diagnostics tool
Hi there
I have a query regarding my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720. I have had serious boot up issues recently and now, after doing the epsa diagnostic test it's has given me the following error code:
Error code 2000-0142
Validation 83097
Msg: Hard drive 0 S/N xxxxxxxx short self test unsuccessful (the x's are just the serial number it displays)
After searching online about this it seems the hard drive is now useless, I would like to know if that's true?
The computer now just displays the windows icon with the message under it "Diagnosing your pc" and dots spinning in a circle and it does that for hours. I have windows 10 on the machine which was the free upgrade from windows 7. I have no access to any other machine and no recovery media.
Please help!

The hard drive has indeed failed and needs to be replaced. Your system will have a digital entitlement for Windows 10 - you can download an ISO and write the file to a flash drive or DVD to use it for reinstalling the operating system onto a new hard drive.

Yes. Be sure you use the same version of 10 (10 or 10 Pro) that's on the system already.

The ISO that can be downloaded from Microsofts website? So it's a simple case of transferring the downloaded file to a memory stick and installing from that?

Does it matter what file system the memory stick is? Eg ntfs fat32 etc
