External monitor settings reset to duplicate screen
Hi,
I am new owner of Dell XPS 14. I owned a couple of more Dell laptops and they were always amazing, but every now and again I ran into driver issues. This time I have a problem, that every time my computer goes back from sleep or hibernate, my external monitor settings reset. I have set up to use an external monitor through HDMI and I use it as single monitor. It is 24" screen with 1080p resolution and everything works fine. After I wake up my computer, the settings are reset to duplicate screen settings with low 1440x900 resolution (same as laptop display) and I always have to go into screen resolution settings or use laptops function keys to change the settings to appropriate ones.
This is very annoying and I can't seem to find the solution. Interestingly it works fine after reboot, but resets only after wake up. Please advise where should I be looking at, because I tried updating to latest, even beta drivers for both graphics cards, I've downloaded all available windows updates, but nothing helps. Maybe there is some diagnostic I can run or look into some log files I don't know to find out what is going on?
I did install an after market Samsung 830 SSD drive and I am running Windows 8 Enterpirse 64-bit.
I'am looking forward for your suggestions!

AC adapter is always on for most of my work day, I do unplug it every now and again when I take my laptop on my lap for evening movies or whatever. Also, the power setting is already on high performance.
This is driving me nuts.

Since this only happens while the system is resumed from sleep or hibernate its going to be a strictly software issue. The obvious steps you have already tried, which is making sure that you have the most up to date drivers installed. If you are using the notebook typically with the AC adapter connected (which is certainly what I suggest) make sure that the system is configured for high performance in power settings.

Hi AMENT88,
I have the exact same problem, I have Dell Inspiron N4050 and connected to LG L1919S monitor. Like you, I only have this problem after my laptop wakes from sleep. Please tell me if you found a solution for it by now.
Thanks,
