Fan still works after shut down (Windows 10).
Hi,
I have installed windows 10 in my Inspiron 15 3542.
When I shutdown the computer, sometimes the fan keeps running till the battery drains out.
Then I have to keep pressing power button and power off the laptop.
Previously I had Windows 8.1 and no issues at all.
Any healpful ideas guys?

So, I did clean reinstall of Windows 10 and it took me several installs to figure out everything right. After installation I disabled windows automatic driver download, because it seems that it downloads some faulty drivers. I installed video drivers from leshcatlabs.net and checked device manager to find devices that are missing drivers. After that I installed drivers from Dell support page. If you can't find all needed drivers you need to change OS to windows 8.1 and then you'll find them. I changed OS in support page and installed chipset drivers for windows 8.1. I tested my laptop over few days and it works perfectly. Even after 5 hours of usage, it shut down correctly.
After everything, my guess is that the problem is in chipset driver that windows downloads through windows updates.

I have the same issue with my dell inspiron 17 7737.
This issue only occurs when my laptop running for more than 2 hours.
I have updated all the drivers from dell website. (Downloaded all the latest drivers by manually and then installed them by order).
But it didn't solve the issues.
I assume this may be the issue from one of the chipset or network drivers.

Hi,
So I have the exact same laptop with the exact same issue after upgrading to Windows 10, I tried all the proposed solutions in this thread, but non of them worked.
Every time I shut down or hibernate the computer, the fan will still keep running, it gets a little hot in a matter of fact which means the cpu is running. I even tried to clean install only to find the problem recur.
The only option that seems to work (for now) is turning off fast startup in power options, it takes longer to boot now, but at least the battery won't drain.

After having a troublesome experience with this eerie problem and wasting my time to find its remedy, I have managed to come up with a long term solution.
>>> Downgrading to windows 8.1 ..... Yooo!
