Forgot password to access laptop
I must be one of many to which this has happened.
I haven't used this laptop in about 4 years. I start it up and realize I have it password protected. It wants a password to let me enter the system. I don't remember the password at all. I called Dell customer service and they have basically given me the run around with phone numbers that don't work and they never understand what I am talking about.
Is there a way to by-pass the password or reset it? I used to hit F2 before the "you need a passsword to enter" message came on and that used to let me change the password but that wouldn't help without the old password and that F2 does not seem to take me anywhere now.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

You need to call the out-of-warranty support line and pay a $50 fee for a service call. Be prepared to prove your ownership of the system and they'll generate your master password from the service tag number.
In the US, the number to call is 800-624-9896
