Help with Complications due to BIOS Change!!

Hey Everyone-

Start off by telling you I have a Inspiron 6400 notebook computer.  It's not a computer I use a ton but long story short I've had this unit for 2 years, I decided last week to reinstall the operating systems and refresh everything.  When I went to the drivers and download page for dell it recommended for my computer  BIOS A17  before reinstalling my operating disks I orginally had A06.

Ever since I put on BIOS A17 my machine likes to do goofy things, I'm not sure how to find the proper BIOS for my computer or to change back to the orginal if recommended.  Thanks in advance

define goofy

if you find the A06 bios executable on support.dell.com you can just roll it back

Sorry about the goofy things... Let me expand I'm having problems with some of my applications sometimes I will have an internet page up and it will close on its own.  Some of my startup applications will load one time and not the next time.  I use to be able to have the ability to go in and change my computer power options to standby etc. when the lid was shut and now I have no options.  I also use to have the ability to choose from 4 different resolution options now I have only two options.

Long story short I know I have more problems then just the BIOS, I guess I was looking for some feedback if I should try and find the old BIOS instead of using the new one.  I know most of the issues I described above have nothing to do with the BIOS.  I'm just assuming that some of the problems are linked to the BIOS..

it sounds like you didn't finish installing all the necessary drivers and the windows updates.

When you flashed the BIOS it whould have made a back-up copy of the old BIOS in the folder yopu flashed from. It would be named BIOS.BAK. You can use the flash program to flash this back into the BIOS Chip.

Here is a link to the DELL FTP BIOS Files: ftp://ftp.dell.com/bios/
