i cant update my bios
hi,
i have an inspiron 6400/E1505 and i need to update my bios and drivers, since it freezes all the time and operate really slow. The problem is that when i downloaded the application (MM061A17), this message shows up "The AC adapter and battery must be plugged in before the system BIOS can be flashed". But my battery is not working and cannot be identified in the system.
Is there any solution for this problem that updates my BIOS without the battery inserted?
Thanks

You need a charged battery and a working adapter BEFORE you attempt to flash the BIOS. DO NOT flash otherwise or you risk a $300+ mainboard.
The BIOS update WILL NOT fix a battery or adapter problem - that's a hardware fault you must rectify before flashing.

Changing BIOS generally doesn't solve slow CPU & freeze problems.
Battery is mandatory for flashing BIOS on laptops.
For freeze issue's : Test RAM with DELL Diagnostics CD (available on website in ISO)
Alternatively try running a free OS to see if the freeze issue reproduces. If not, it's a windows issue, most likely driver related.
Slow performance can be caused by fragmented harddisk or fragmented system swap file.
A fragmented swap file can be solved by "Paging file and Hibernation file defragmentation"
Also the disk might have bad spots or degraded - check SMART disk status.
