Inspiron 1100 problem-error code: 1000-0321 LCD Connect ......Need help

My laptop does to blue screen then reboots. Power supply heat seems higher than normal and gets hot fairly faster than normal too. Fan not kicking on that often either. Sometimes hear a crackling sound. But able to show Norton Recovery Screen. Diagnostics at boot show error code 1000-0321 (LCD Connect) Screen is small for recovery process but able to transfer files.

Is it my power supply that is the problem? The actual LCD display? Are there replaceble power supplys for the 1100 or is it all on one board? Is it worth it getting repaired? I bought this one on Ebay some time back for under $800. Since added 60gig HD and 1 Gig memory. Use it for my business and as always, you never backup enough that you gather over time.

Trying to recover files using Norton Recovery 2005 but process slow to copy and paste onto 5 gig thumb drive and then copy onto desktop. Can I do a direct transfer to one my hard drives of my desktop? Not sure how.
