Inspiron 1520 Battery

My Device Status Light-Batt is FLASHING Amber. The AC power is connected. The Power Plan icon on the display panel indicates "Fully Charged". If the power cord is plulled all power is lost. I recently, 2 weeks ago, replaced the AC power adapter the original was KBD (Killed By Dog). After installing the new AC power adapter I think the machine worked fine and the new problem has arisen in the last couple of days.

Thanks for any help.

Rapidly flashing amber may mean the battery has become defective.

Try posting your question on the Laptop General Hardware Board for advice about that situation.

Mary G,

Thanx for the response. I think you have solved my problem. The computer works fine w/o the batt installed and the Flashing Amber is extinguished. The new AC Adapter I bought from Dell. I do believe that the batt has failed.

Adios

Check the battery status on the battery itself if it has a test light. Batteries do fail and need replacing. Did you replace the adapter with a Dell approved replacement? Try removing the battery and use just the adapter. Any flashing light then? Read this article: Test your battery
