Installing .net framework 4.5.1 or above
When installing .net framework 4.5.2 program downloads to notebook ok. I get same result in either style install... from internet or as downloaded file.
File when installing (File is needed to run software updates for system from Dell) file gets to 70% and does a fatal error! Now file will not backout at this point.
How in the world to get specific software/hardware for your own computer???
System is a Dell Inspiron N4010 Vintage 2011 4gb ram
Microsoft has sent us to Dell as this is a OEM issue.... I cannot get there as I am in Thailand! (Military) They gave us Telephone Number... Cannot call out of Station (secured no Phones)

There is no reason to use the Dell automated updater.
Turn on Windows Updates, and let it do its thing. Could take several hours.
That is what I have always done for all my laptops.

Okay...... I will leave it at that. I had actually done this. But a couple things seemed still to be off. Example for some reason I was sent a ATI driver.... Note book actually has an IBM Video Card.... Didn't understand that move other than to be wary and an urge to double check everything :) For those wondering... no it failed to install too! As there was nothing related to it in construction of the Dell Inspiron N4010.

Because I am required to install net framework 4.5.XX to use the software to install any Dell drivers and software updates relating to my specific notebook... Supposedly it scans or allows related upgrades relating to my specific use to be automatically updated...

What we did do was get new dell notebook for daughter in America and take this one back to Chiang Mai, Thailand for my use. I had found out after cleaning her "Stuff" she had turned off Windows Updates. So I turned on. She had never went to Dell Site and updated any drivers, this is what I tried to do and was referred by site to install net.framework 4.5x to enable the use of the Dell's Automated updater. To enable specific (and correct) Drivers to be selected and installed.
This is where my issue stemmed from.
Did you ask for my service tag info? Just in case it is:
Still has original Windows7 installed that came with Notebook. I did up IE to version 11.

Boy! was that imbarrassing... I was talking to my wife about some old friends who worked at NCR and went to IBM....
What I meant to type was Intel!!! Boy I will never here the end of this... Even she is Laughing!

David,
Yes, keep Windows updates turned on and don't use the other updater.
I have seen the .net framework error with printers that were installed and either an update or the person upgraded the system, then the error message. The solution was to remove the printer or device, then restart the computer and make sure you have all the updates, then reinstall the printer or device.
