Integrated Devices
About a year ago I purchased a Dell Insprion 8500. Recently I bought a new printer (HP Photosmart 7960) and everytime I turn on the computer the printer starts printing a ton of pages with the words USBC RUT written on the page. I e-mailed HP and they told me it was a garbled text issue. They told me to go into the BIOS and select the Integrated Devices option, but I cannot find that in my BIOS. Am I overlooking it? I looked on the BIOS of my new Dell Dimension 2400 and it had a completly diffrent BIOS with the Integrted Devices on it. Does this mean that the BIOS for the Inspiron 8500 does not have that option? If so where is it? Thank you for reading this and I would appreciate any help possible.

Afterward I selected Integrated devices I was to highlight the USB Emulation option. Then using the spacebar untill the NO BOOT option is displayed. Then exit the BIOS.
Here is a copy of the e-mail I recieved.
Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.
I gather from your e-mail that you are experiencing garbled text issue
on boot-up with your Photosmart 7960 printer. I regret the
inconvenience
caused.
To stop garbled text or pages containing references to USB functions
from being printed when the computer is turned on, enable the No BOOT
option in the System Setup program (BIOS).
CAUTION: The following steps will change from the BIOS setting,
the ability to boot from a USB device such as an
external drive. This change can be reversed.
Any other changes are NOT recommended.
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug all USB devices other than the keyboard.
3. Restart the computer.
4. When the brand logo appears, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS.
NOTE: If the Windows screen appears, wait until the computer
finishes starting up, then shut down and try again.
5. Using the Down-Arrow key, highlight Integrated Devices (Legacy
Select Options).
6. Press the Enter key.
7. Using the Down-Arrow key highlight the USB Emulation option.
8. Press the Space Bar until the No BOOT option is displayed.
9. Press the Esc key twice to go to the Exit menu.
10. Ensure that "Save Changes and Exit" is highlighted, and press the
Enter key. The computer will restart.
If the issue persists after following the suggestion given above, you
need to contact Dell Technical Support for further troubleshooting and
a resolution. Information for Dell Technical Support is available on
the Dell Web site at:
http://support.dell.com/
NOTE: The URL above will take you to a non HP Web site. HP does
not control and is not responsible for information outside
of the HP Web site.
This should resolve the issue. It is important we answer your question.
Feel free to contact us for any queries and solutions. We will be happy
to help you.
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
****

I am sorry to say that I tried that and it still didn't work. I also tried turning the USB thing off, that didn't work, and I also tried to uininstall thjen reinstall the printer. This also didn't work. Any more sugestions. I am now considering returning the printer and buying another model. Does anyone think that the exact some printer would do the same thing.

Yes, it starts to do print as soon as the printer turns off.
I also recieved this e-mail from Dell
Dear Michael,
Since the previous email agent is not available today, I am replying to
your message so that we can solve your problem as quickly as possible.
Michael, I am a senior technician here at Dell and this mail has reached
me as an esclation.
After going through the issue, I found that you are having an issue with
the HP Printer that gives out Print outs with the USBC RUT words on it.
It appears to be a issue with the Printer configurations and thus to
resolve the issue, I would advise you to uninstall the Printer both
Manually from the system as well as from the Device manager and then
restore the system to a date when the system worked fine.
Next you need to download the Printer drivers from the weblink as
mentioned in the following weblink.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?product=305383&os=228&lang=en&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ps-18223-2
But how do I "uninstall the Printer both Manually from the system as well as from the Device manager and then
restore the system to a date when the system worked fine."
Thank You everyone for your continued help in this topic.
Michael
