Intel Rapid Start / Rapid Storage technology help.

Hello everyone,

I have an Inspiron 14z with a 500GB HDD and a 32GB mSATA SSD.

I reinstalled my windows, and I have both drivers in RAID (if you go to the BIOS thats the "Intel Smart Response Technology" option for SATA operation).

However I can only get Intel Rapid Storage working when they're in RAID. Whenver I try to instal Rapid Start I get an error message saying my computer does not meet minimum requirements.

When I change SATA operation mode to AHCI in BIOS, I can run Rapid Start normally but Rapid Stora gets disabled.

Question: is it possible to get them both (Rapid Start and Rapid Storage) working at the same time with RAID mode set on BIOS?

Thanks in advance

I am defenitely gonna try that. I installed in ACHI so that might be the issue. I'll keep it updated here.

Yes, Rapid Start and Rapid Storage do work together. You must have an 8G partition on the SSD for the rapid start feature - is that in place?

I think you need to re-create the 8G partition and reinstall completely from RAID mode.  I have a 5520 system I did just that on, and it worked fine.

Yes, yet it didn't work. What I did was:

1) Installed windows on ACHI, installed the rapid start driver, rapid start worked fine on AHCI.

2) Changed BIOs from ACHI to ISRT and then booted windows;

3) Installed the Rapid Storage driver, configured, rebooted it.

Then Rapid Start Stopped working. It worked on ACHI though. How weird. I am open to suggestions if you have any.

Thanks a lot.

Here is what happened so far:

1) Installed the windows with RAID enabled in BIOS, installed Rapid Start and Rapid Storage normally;

2) Rapid Start worked fine, until I enabled Rapid Storage.

When I enabled Rapid Storage, it put both drives in RAID, hiding the SSD from Rapid Start making it unusable. Did you face similar issue?

Keep in mind that I have a 500GB HDD + 32 GB mSATA SSD

Thanks!

When I say "enable Rapid Storage" I mean clicking in "Enable Acceleration" in Rapid Storage Interface.
