Keyboard not functioning properly

I had an external keyboard attached. My wife now has the laptop on travel and the internal keyboard is not working properly. Does not want to work without external keyboard and the laptop keyboard is not functioning properly.

The i, j, k, l, m, o, p & u keys are not responding properly

When I type in the alphabet this is what is displayed: abcdefgh51230n6-qrsT4VWxyz

I have removed keyboard device from Device Manager and restarted. NO AFFECT

I have went into BIOS and accepted default settings. NO AFFECT

Has anybody seen this problem and is there a corrective action for it without having to put an external keyboard on. I need to a simple solution so I can explain to my wife how to correct the problem while she is on travel.

Sounds like your NUMBER LOCK is set

Which will let you use that part of the keyboard to enter number data

Hit the NUM lock key

Check your user manual

Appreciate the info.Turned out that the Fn key must be depressed and the numlock key at the same time for it unlock the keypad. All is working fine now. This isn't the first time this has happened though and I have to remember the fix for the next time.

I cant believe it!  I have been trying to fix this problem for 2 days, and have tried a ton of different stuff.  None of it worked until now.  Thank you for your help!
